Event: Let’s talk about Human Rights in Mexico: Ayotzinapa’s 43 Disappeared Students

Liberation, Jeremy Corbyn MP, Cathy Jamieson MP, and Justice Mexico Now,are hosting an event at Portcullis House, on Human Rights in Mexico on the 24th of February 2015 at 7pm (please arrive 6.30 to pass security). This event takes place in the context of the dual year Mexico-UK 2015 which focus on trade, investment and culture, but largely overlooks the Human Right’s crisis in Mexico. The meeting aims to launch a Campaign for Human Rights in Mexico, called Justice in Mexico Now’ to demand an end to impunity and to Human Rights abuses in the country.

The speakers will cover the recent case of the 43 students from Ayotzinapa and their enforced disappearance by the mayor and local police in Guerrero, Mexico, the extrajudicial killings by the military like those at the State of Mexico, violence against journalists and activists, impunity rates, and a preliminar report from one of the participants at the Misión de Observación Civil that took place in November last year.
