Dear Brian,
We, your comrades and friends in the Executive Committee of Liberation, on behalf of all Liberation members, wish to express how shocked and appalled we are at your suspension from the parliamentary whip and to send you a message of solidarity from all of us.
You are a consistent opponent of neo-colonialism in all its forms and manifestations as well as a firm supporter of the rights of people in every land to self-determination, independence, and a just and democratic future. You are a true internationalist in every sense.
During the time we have worked with you, we have witnessed first-hand your integrity and unwavering dedication to your constituency and all those who live there. This was deservedly recognised in your recent receiving of the Braveheart Award [for your “unashamed promotion of the interests of Scotland and pushing the country up the political agenda in the last year at Westminster”], on which we again congratulate you.
The work of Liberation in defence of human rights and international solidarity has already greatly benefitted from your selfless commitment to its aims and ambitions, and we very much look forward to your continued and valued support along with all the activities and projects we will undertake together in the future.
