On Saturday 18th July, AGS, Jamshid Ahmadi, was invited by the SW TUC to take part on the panel discussion “War and Crisis in the Middle East” at the Tolpuddle Martyrs’ Festival in Dorset.

Louise Regan (Chair, Palestine Solidarity Campaign), Khalid Sidahmad (Middle East and North Africa Solidarity Campaign), and Jamshid Ahmadi, addressed the packed marquee of trade unionists explaining the illegality of the war initiated by the US – Israeli axis, that the main objective of the war was a brutal regime change, illegal under the UN Charter and International law, and the fact the Iranian working people being totally against it.

He called for widest solidarity with the working people of Iran and opposition to the illegal war.

He pointed out that people of Iran aspire to live in peace and free from economic sanctions.  “The struggle for this aspiration to be realised can only succeed if genuine peace prevails, and this in turn provide the environment for the struggle for human and democratic rights to meaningfully develop.”  He concluded: “the struggle for peace and the campaign for human and democratic rights including women rights, trade union rights are interlinked”.
