It is with deep sadness that Liberation announces the passing on 1 September 2025 of Maggie Bowden, our Joint President and former long-time General Secretary.
Maggie was a true internationalist and fighter for peace.
In her role at Liberation, spanning three decades, she showed unwavering solidarity with peoples oppressed by neo-colonialisation and despotic regimes worldwide.
This included bringing issues before the UK parliament and the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Maggie was a wonderful, kind-hearted and generous person, as everybody who worked with her in Liberation will attest.
We will always miss her.
FUNERAL
The funeral will be held at 10.00 am on Tuesday 23rd September at the West London Crematorium, Harrow Road, London NW10 4RA. There is parking inside the crematorium however only the No 18 bus goes there. Refreshments afterwards at The Porchester Pub, Porchester Road, London W2 5AA
